Alesha Dixon is a British singer, rapper, dancer, television personality, and author. She is the recipient of the Cosmopolitan Awards and BT Visit London Awards. She won the fifth series of the BBC One dancing competition show "Strictly Come Dancing". She came into the limelight in the early 2000s as a member of the R&B, garage, and hip hop group Mis-Teeq.

After the group disbanded in 2005 and Dixon then pursued a music career as a solo artist, signing a recording contract with Polydor Records. She recorded her debut solo studio album, Fired Up in 2006, releasing her debut single "Lipstick", followed by "Knockdown", after which her popularity as a singer had declined, and was subsequently dropped from Polydor.

As a television presenter, Dixon has hosted Alesha's Street Dance Stars (2010), Your Face Sounds Familiar (2013), Text Santa (2014–2015), Dance Dance Dance (2017), The Greatest Dancer (2019–2020), and Comic Relief (2019-2022). She has also written a series of children's books titled Lightning Girl.

Alesha Dixon was born to her Jamaican father, Marvin "Melvin" Dixon who was a service engineer at the time, and English mother, Beverly Harris. Her parents separated when she was four years old and she was raised by her mother. Her mothers gave birth to her six half-siblings with her abusive partner. All of them are brothers except for one sister. 

As for education, Dixon attended the Monk's Walk School in her hometown. After her college, she aspired to become a PE teacher and completed a diploma course in sports studies. However, she begin focusing on music after a talent manager scouted her.

  • Alesha Dixon began his career in 1997 as a dancer. 
  • In 1999, she formed a girl group, "Mis-Teeq" with her co-founder Sabrina Washington and two newly added members Su-Elise Nash and Zena McNally. 
  • In January 2001, Mis-Teeq released their first single, "Why". 
  • In October 2001, they released their debut album "Lickin' On Both Sides" which became a top-five success in the United Kingdom, reaching number three on the national albums chart. 
  • In 2003, the group released their second album "Eye Candy". 
  • In March 2005, "Mis-teeq" released their "Greatest Hits" compilation album and got disbanded to pursue solo careers. 
  • After "Mis-teeq" break-up, she signed a £500,000, three-album deal with Polydor Records and released her debut solo album "Fired Up" on 6th November 2006. 
  • In 2007, she participated and won the fifth season of the British television dance contest "Strictly Come Dancing".

  • Since 2019, she has been serving as a co-presenter for Comic Relief, an operating British charity. 
  • In 2020, she judged for season two of America's Got Talent: The Champions.
  • She will be one of the Judges on the tenth season of "Australia's Got Talent" which will air in late 2022.

Alesha was previously married to her long-term boyfriend, Mc Harvey, a British rapper in the year 2005. They dated each other for five years before they decided to take their relationship to the next level. But their marriage lasted for only a year because her husband had slept with a singer, Javine Hylton. After a failed marriage and divorce with her first husband in 2006.


Alesha Dixon began dating a dancer, Azuka Ononye in 2012. She even gave birth to a daughter, Azura Sienna Ononye in October 2013 with Azuka. Though she claimed that she turned down many proposals from her boyfriend, Azuka, she secretly married him in 2017. Their second daughter Anaya Safiya Ononye was born in 2019. Alesha is currently living a peaceful and happy life with her second husband and children.
