Justin Gaethje is a renowned American professional mixed martial artist. He is best known for currently competing in the Lightweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He is famous for being the former UFC Interim Lightweight Champion and the current UFC BMF Champion, being the second fighter in UFC history to hold the prestigious BMF championship. Gaethje secured the BMF title on July 29, 2023, at UFC 291. As of August 1, 2023, he holds the #2 spot in the UFC lightweight rankings and is ranked #13 in the UFC men's pound-for-pound rankings. Gaethje's journey in combat sports started early, as he began wrestling at the age of four and went on to achieve two Arizona state championships during his time at Safford High School. He continued his wrestling success at the University of Northern Colorado, becoming an NCAA Division I All-American. While in college, Gaethje embarked on his amateur MMA career before turning professional in 2011. In 2013, he joined the World Series of Fighting (WSOF), where he became the Lightweight Champion, successfully defending his belt five times before moving to the UFC in 2017.
