Shakira, who has been referred to as the "Queen of Latin Music", is a Colombian singer. She has received numerous awards, including three Grammy Awards, twelve Latin Grammy Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, seven Billboard Music Awards, thirty-nine Billboard Latin Music Awards, six Guinness World Records, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

From her 1991's debut album "Magia" to 2022, Shakira has released 12 studio albums. She has sold over 80 million records, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time. Forbes reported that as of 2018, she is the top-selling female Latin artist of all time. She is credited with opening the doors of the international market for other Latin artists.

When was Shakira born?

Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll was born on 2nd February 1977 in Barranquilla, the capital district of Atlántico Department in Colombia. Her birth name is Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll. She holds a Spanish nationality and belongs to a mixed (half Catalan and half Arabic) ethnicity. Her star sign is Aquarius. She is a follower of Catholicism. 

Shakira was born to a Lebanese father William Mebarak Chadid, and a Columbian mother Nidia Ripoll Torrado. At age seven she went from riches to rags, because of the bankruptcy of her father's jewelry business. She has eight older half-siblings from her father's previous marriage. Shakira spent much of her youth in Barranquilla. 

As for education, Shakira attended Catholic schools, and at the age of 15, she graduated from high school. Later, She took a break from music and enrolled in a history course at UCLA after releasing her 2006 album 'Oral Fixation Vol. 2'.

Is Shakira still married?

Shakira was in a relationship with Spanish professional footballer Gerard Pique from 2011 until 2022.  She met Pique at the shoot of the music video for her single "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)", the official song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, and started dating in 2011. Together they have two children: both are sons named Milan Piqué Mebarak and Sasha Piqué Mebarak.

However, On 5th June 2022, the couple confirmed in a joint statement that they are separating. After 11 years together it seems that the relationship between Shakira and Barcelona's Centre-back has came to end. Reports out of Spain have indicated that Piqué was living a party lifestyle and was having an affair with another woman.

All that is known at the moment is that the woman is being reported as a “20-year-old blonde who is studying and working as a promotions model”. There is widespread reporting that the Barcelona legend has been going out a lot with Riqui Puig and they have been seen in the company of “a lot of women”.

Previously, Shakira was romantically linked to Argentinian lawyer Antonio de la Rúa from 2000 to 2010. While actually not married, the couple was living as husband and wife. However, After 10 years together, Shakira and de la Rúa separated in August 2010 in what she described as "a mutual decision to take time apart from our romantic relationship".
